Amboy Friends Monthly Meeting met April 15, 2012, following a chicken noodle dinner hosted by the Haiti Mission Team. There were 31 members present.
Clerk Michael Reynolds opened with a devotional and prayer.
The March meeting minutes and church and Missions’ treasurer’s reports were presented and approved. According to Stewardship & Finance, the church is a little short on budget. The budgeted amount through the end of March was $27,975 while our income is only $27,138. That’s an $837 shortfall.
Pastor Dwight Elliott’s report noted that attendance was down in March, mostly due to spring breaks. He also attended a variety of meetings including the Quaker Haven Board. He encourages us to visit Quaker Haven as there have been many changes in recent years. The challenge for members to purchase a brick to support Quaker Haven was also reiterated. Pastor Dwight will attend a seminar concerning small churches with attendance of 25 members or less. He asks for prayer for these congregations.
Old Business
Ministry & Oversight presented the appointments of Rolla Trent and Lori Davis to the Personnel Committee. Both were approved.
The Meeting agreed to purchase a $250 brick for Quaker Haven out of the general fund.
New Business
Christian Education asked for permission to purchase a TV and DVD player similar to the one they purchased that is now being used by the worship committee. This was approved.
Trustees requested $2,000 from the general fund to help fund exterior maintenance this summer. This was also approved.
Stephanie Fruth informed the meeting that a freezer has been acquired for the Hunger Care Ministry. It will be in the storage room of the Family Life Center. She also thanked Nancy Boyer and Debbie Hahn for their help.
Alan Hunt gave an update on the remodeling of Friendship Lodge at Quaker Haven. He also reminded us that there is still Quaker Haven syrup for sale.
It was confirmed that Indiana Yearly Meeting will reimburse Amboy Friends Church for one-half of camp fees for each child attending Quaker Haven Camp.
After some discussion, it was agreed to place the Christian flag back in the sanctuary.
Clerk Reynolds closed the meeting with prayer.
