Amboy Friends Monthly Meeting met July 17, 2012, following a carry-in meal. There were 18 members present.
Clerk Michael Reynolds opened with another Quaker lesson about the integration of our spiritual lives. Quakers should be rooted in the awareness of God’s presence at all times. Our spiritual life should be as continuous as our physical and emotional lives.
The meeting minutes from June were read and approved with a couple clarifications.
There was no treasurer’s report presented.
The Pastor’s report was presented and approved. Upcoming events include Yearly Meeting; directory photos taken in August; community church service in September, with Pastor Dwight Elliott bringing the message; and Back to Church Sunday in September.
Chris Miller, Christian Education chair, presented the committee’s year-end report. It was approved.
Old Business
A discussion was held concerning what position our Meeting should take on the Indiana Yearly Meeting configuration. Many agreed with a minute from Spiceland Friends Meeting that stated that while we are not supportive of West Richmond’s minute, we would not like to see a split in the Yearly Meeting. However, if it was necessary, Amboy Friends Meeting prefers option B. Clerk Reynolds will draft a letter to send to the Yearly Meeting on our behalf conveying this.
New Business
Pastor Dwight informed the meeting that Holly and Ariel Johnson have resigned their interim service as youth leaders. The meeting recognizes and appreciates their willingness to serve our youth.
It was noted that Dave Phillips will be the speaker for Family Camp at Quaker Haven this year.
A recent storm caused some possible lightning damage to various items in the church, including but not limited to the worship computer, speaker system, and carillons. Estimates and repairs are being made.
