Amboy Friends Monthly Meeting gathered September 23, 2012, following a carry-in dinner. There were 23 members present.
Clerk Michael Reynolds presented a reading entitled “Integration of our Spiritual Lives” and then opened with prayer.
The August minutes and treasurer’s report were presented and approved. The budget is currently at a shortfall of $5,825.
The pastor’s report recapped August and September activities and looked forward to events in October, including FUM’s 40 Days of Prayer beginning on October 10. Supplemental booklets will be ordered for those taking part. He also noted the start up of the youth ministry with Brock Sizelove as our new youth pastor. Brock then conveyed his appreciation for the overwhelming offer of support he has already received and said he is anxious to get started.
Old Business
Considering the reconfiguration of IYM, Clerk Reynolds offered copied letters from other churches in the meeting if anyone would like to review them.
The Trustees reported that the chimney work had been completed and were thankful that the necessary funds were raised.
Mary Brown reported that our booth at the Amboy Festival was received well. Our presence showed that we want to be part of the community.
New Business
The Trustees have entered into an agreement with a renewable power project, EC&R Development for the farm acreage. The lease gives this company the right to build windmills for a wind farm. Farming the acreage will continue around the possible windmills.
It was suggested that the Sunday School chairs from the primary department that are no longer in use be donated to Manantial de Vida Church in Logansport.
Alan Hunt will be attending a called IYM reconfiguration meeting on September 29. A special prayer for his ability to have an open mind but yet to stand firm was voiced.
Our next meeting will be Sunday, October 21 after a noon meal.
