Meeting Minutes: March 2013

The Monthly Meeting of Amboy Friends met March 17, 2013, after a soup and sandwich carry-in meal. There were 33 members present.

Clerk Michael Reynolds read an excerpt written in 1955 by Thomas Brown entitled “Personal Relevance of the Truth.” It is not enough to know the truth but to be committed to and live it.

The February minutes were read and approved.

The passing of Lela Kelsey on March 8, 2013, at the impressive age of 104 was recorded. It is believed that she was possibly the oldest member of Amboy Friends.

The treasurer’s report was presented and approved. Our budget balance is now $17,400, and our accumulated offering income is $16,352—a $1,042 shortfall.

Both pastor’s reports were presented and approved. Pastor Dwight Elliott commented that there are many families going through bereavement at this time and we need to continue to offer support in prayer. He and Ministry & Oversight are considering a possible support group for varying needs. Children’s church is consistent at 10 to 13 children each week and is currently using past VBS material for lessons to save in costs. Quaker Haven is hosting an M&O retreat the first weekend of April that is open to anyone, not just M&O members. Dwight encouraged anyone interested to attend.

Youth Pastor Brock Sizelove briefly reported that there were six kids who attended Winter Sneak at Quaker Haven. The youth also visited Margaret Ramsey one Sunday evening and enjoyed it so much that they plan to get out to visit other shut ins as well.

The Missions Committee treasurer’s report was presented and approved.
