Amboy Friends Monthly Meeting met September 25, 2011, after a carry-in meal. There were 17 members in attendance.
Clerk Michael Reynolds opened the meeting with a devotional reminding us that the decision is ours whether or not to choose Jesus’ gift of salvation. God desires that we choose Him.
The August monthly meeting minutes and treasurer’s report were read and approved.
Pastor Dwight’s report included details of the West Richmond issue with a fifth option presented. Upcoming events are the start of the Helping Hands satellite location from our church on September 28, Faith in Action Sunday on October 30, and the planning of the Haiti missions trip for next summer. His report was approved.
Old Business
Clerk Reynolds encouraged giving comments to Alan Hunt concerning the West Richmond minute as the called meeting of the IYM Representative Council will be held October 1. He also noted that any individual is welcome to attend. Due to the likelihood of no one being able to attend, Clerk Reynolds offered to send a letter reiterating our position on the issue as per our April letter sent to IYM’s Ministry & Oversight Committee.
The tree removal and replacement landscaping plans were tabled until spring.
New Business
An update on Pastor Abby Walker is that she received her education funds and is now in the outreach phase of her mission. She knows she needs an additional $2,649, but the deadline for this is not clear.
Tracy Dubois asked for approval from the meeting to start fundraising efforts for the missions trip to Haiti. The cost is approximately $2,000 per person. This was approved.
Alan Hunt noted that another missions opportunity is available in January 2012. Pastor John Key of Maple Run Friends is leading a team to Belize with CSI.
The next meeting will be October 16, 2011, after a noon meal.
The meeting was dismissed with prayer.
