FUM Ministry of the Month

Friends Theological College in Kaimosi, Kenya, is increasing its practical ministry skills in mission and evangelism. Instead of just teaching the theories behind mission and evangelism, FTC wants its students to experience and apply the skills they are learning in order to be even more prepared for their work upon graduation.

Nick Obaga, a bachelor of theology student at FTC from Bware Yearly Meeting, desires to have a career in missions. He is currently working with FTC staff and the Turkana Friends Mission leaders to develop a program within Kakuma Refugee Camp. This 10-square mile camp in the Turkana desert region is filled with over 90,000 internationally displaced persons.

FTC is the only Quaker pastoral training program in Kenya. Students have a huge impact on their communities after graduation but also between terms as they minister to those they come in contact with. We are truly blessed to have this institution developing the leadership of our future pastors in East Africa.

Support Friends Theological College with your daily prayers:
  1. Pray for Ann Riggs, principal of FTC, that she will continue to have the wisdom needed to further the work of the college.
  2. Pray for the faculty and staff of FTC as they train the next generation of pastors, teachers, and missionaries that they will inspire enthusiasm and energy for the work.
  3. Pray for the work at Kakuma Refugee Camp that it will bring hope and courage to thousands of displaced people in Kenya.
  4. Praise for the great success of the 2011 Kids for Kids project. Pray that the goats will produce milk to provide nourishment for those who need it and income for our students.
  5. Praise for all of the student initiative projects that are being developed to help students fund their tuition. Pray that the students continue to find great reward in these projects.
  6. Praise for the acceptance into master and doctoral level programs for some of FTC’s students and faculty.
  7. Pray for the students as they go into communities to minister that they will deepen the impact of Christ’s transforming and liberating life and message.
